City of Kawartha Lakes
Effective yesterday (July 9), the Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service has issued a burn ban for the entire City of Kawartha Lakes until further notice.
According to fire chief Mark Pankhurst, the burn ban has been issued due to continuous hot temperatures and dry conditions.
While there have been no calls for fires at area homes or cottages, there have been three fires in the northern region of Kawartha Lakes over the past week (near Glenarm, near Udra Lake north of Buckhorn, and in Carden near Dalrymple).
Under section 8.03 of City of Kawartha Lakes By-law 2016-110, those having a fire during a burn ban can be charged under the Provincial Offences Act and will also be responsible for the costs incurred by fire control.
Residents will be notified when the burn ban is lifted.

Would you please remind the residents of Melody Bay that we are having a yard sale Saturday July 14, 9am to 12 at each home that is participating.
PS: For the units participating in the yard sale please email me with your unit number so I can post a list of those participating.
Safe to drink the water!
PickleBall at Melody Bay
As you can see on the calendar, we have two scheduled times for PickleBall. However, adults are able to sign out the equipment when ever they would like. Decided we are keeping it locked up in a room under the office. There are a number of us with keys.
Ron McPhee #42, Paul Henson #9 and Murray Carr #68 . Murray is away next week so he will leave his key with Bruce Hurley #10. Please sign it out when in use and sign it back in when returned.
The well is getting low … so please cut back on watering the grass …. especially during the day in the heat!
Continue to water your plants as needed!
Until further notice.
