New – Single Stream Recycling

Good Afternoon Everyone!

We are happy to announce that we are rolling out a New Recycling Program at Melody Bay! This program will make recycling easier, will assist in keeping the garbage disposal area neat, and as all recycling does – it will help the environment.

We are no longer going to be using the Blue containers for our recycling – going forward we will be using the new 3 Green Bins with Yellow Lids. They will be unlocked one at a time to ensure that the new bins aren’t being over loaded or misused. Please see below instructions on how to recycle using the new system:

Dump only accepted recyclable items in to the Green Bin without the plastic bag(s), no sorting required – see below image for accepted recyclable items

If applicable, please put any plastic bags in the garbage can next to the open Green Recycling Bin – DO NOT PUT PLASTIC BAGS IN THE GREEN RECYCLING BIN. If there are plastic bags found to be in the Green Recycling Bin the bins will not be emptied. This is a North America wide initiative and many municipalities have or are implementing this change of bag-less recycling to reduce contamination.

All other items, not listed on the image above are to be disposed of in the Blue Garbage Bins as usual.

As well, please see the following reminders regarding the garbage disposal area:

Please ensure that all items end up in the appropriate bins and not on the ground

Please do not use the old Blue Recycling bins, they will be removed next week

Please do not drop off items that you wouldn’t throw in your garbage at home, such as: Furniture, Appliances, Propane Tanks, Mattresses, or any chemicals/hazardous materials. If you need to dispose of these items, please contact the resort office or speak to one of our Melody Bay Team Members for instructions on how to dispose of properly.

Please remind children that the garbage disposal area is not a play area and can be dangerous.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new recycling program, please don’t hesitate to contact the Resort Office or speak to one of our Melody Bay Team members.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation! J

Kind Regards,

Jasmine
